The Blue Angels meet their roots

In 2009 The Horsemen Flight Team hooked up with the Blue Angels at an air show. The Horsemen were flying the F8F Bearcat which was the second aircraft flown by the Blue Angels. Besides their own demonstration flight they did some flying with the current Blue Angels in the formation. They also brought the last living original Blue Angel, Al Taddeo (solo pilot), to the show.

The first Blue Angel Flight Demonstration Squadron (1946–1947), assembled in front of one of their Grumman F6F Hellcats (l to r): Lt. Al Taddeo, Solo; Lt. (J.G.) Gale Stouse, Spare; Lt. Cdr. R.M. “Butch” Voris, Flight Leader; Lt. Maurice “Wick” Wickendoll, Right Wing; Lt. Mel Cassidy, Left Wing.
